CHEP is introducing a new display pallet in the UK to replace the existing model, according to a Dutch logistics publication. The new 400×600 mm quarter pallet, the patented CHEP Blue Click-system, which allows easy of display, was rolled out in Germany in 2014.
Compared to the previous fractional pallet, the new model is lighter, more stackable, more stable and easier to use. Thanks to both the improved stackability – up to 36 high in a truck – and the use of recycled materials in the manufacturing process, the new display pallet delivers a CO2 reduction of fifteen percent. The new pallet can carry up to 250 kg with an evenly distributed load.
Ergonomics and ease of use
The emphasis of the new pallet is on ergonomics and ease of use. The pallet is lighter and equipped with a handle and fixing handles for application of wrapping foil. In addition, the inrijvensters for pallet trucks have been widened, which leads to a higher stability, and therefore less product damage, when moving and handling of the pallets. The pallet was tested by the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics and meets the DIN 10503 standard for food hygiene.
Less cardboard
Thanks to the Blue Click system, the pallet can be easily secured with minimal handling. As a result, displays can be made up twice as fast, and requiring ten percent less paperboard. Also, additional fasteners such as glue and staples are redundant with the Blue Click system.
Solution Provider
The launch of the new display pallet is part of CHEP’s vision to invest in solutions that improve the daily operations of its customers. “Our new display pallet with the patented Blue Click system is a response to customer demand for sustainable solutions that lead to more efficiency, less handling and lower packaging costs,” explains Patrick Van Daele, manager Last Mile Solutions & Collaboration CHEP Benelux. “Blue Click system is a first adjustment to our family of 60 × 40 display pallets and forms the basis for further improvements. We are currently working to develop the Blue Click system for the dolly, the 60 × 40 display pallet on wheels. These are our first steps in the evolution of pallet supplier to solution provider for the last mile in the supply chain from the distribution center to the shop floor.”
